Terms & Conditions
1. Promoter
The Geoquest Industry Photography Competition (“Competition”) is conducted by Geoquest and supported by the National Precast Concrete Association Australia (NPCAA). By entering the Competition, entrants agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.
2. Competition Overview
The Geoquest Industry Photography Competition celebrates the visual impact, creativity and engineering excellence of infrastructure projects across Australia and New Zealand. The Competition is a photography-based award program that recognises outstanding imagery capturing infrastructure in the built and natural environment.
3. Eligibility
The Competition is open to:

Residents of Australia and New Zealand aged 18 years or over.

Professional photographers, amateur photographers, engineers, contractors, consultants, asset owners and industry participants.

Individuals only.
The Competition is not restricted to Geoquest projects or solutions. Entries may feature any qualifying infrastructure project located in Australia or New Zealand. Employees of Geoquest, members of the judging panel and their immediate family members are not eligible to enter.
4. Competition Categories
Category 1: Best Precast Concrete Structure in Infrastructure
Awarded to the photograph that best captures excellence in the use of precast concrete within an infrastructure setting.
Prize: AUD $1,000
Category 2: Best Retaining Structure in Infrastructure
Awarded to the photograph that best captures the role, scale and visual impact of retaining structures within infrastructure projects.
Prize: AUD $1,000

Geoquest reserves the right to amend these dates if required. Any changes will be communicated via the Competition page on this website.
6. Entry Requirements
Entrants may submit:

Existing project photography; or newly captured photography.
Each entry must include:
-
One (1) or two (2) high-resolution images
-
A short project description
-
Project location
-
Project details/summary
-
Photographer credit
A maximum of three (3) entries per person will be accepted. Where more than three entries are submitted, only the first three entries received will be considered.
All entries must be submitted through the official Competition submission platform.
7. Copyright and Ownership
Entrants must be the full copyright owner of all images submitted. Entries submitted by organisations, departments or third parties on behalf of a photographer will not be accepted.
By entering, the photographer warrants that:

They created the submitted image(s);

They own all necessary rights to the image(s);

The submission does not infringe any copyright, trademark, privacy or intellectual property rights of any third party.
Copyright remains with the photographer. Entrants grant Geoquest and NPCAA a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use submitted images for purposes directly associated with the Competition, including:

Competition promotion
-
Winner announcements
-
Competition-related website content
-
Social media promotion
-
Industry publications referencing the Competition
-
Event presentations showcasing Competition results
Any ongoing use of images outside Competition-related purposes may require separate permission from the photographer.
8. Entry Restrictions
The following entries are not eligible:

Photographs previously commissioned by Geoquest.

Photographs previously commissioned by NPCAA.
-
Images generated using artificial intelligence (AI).
-
Images that infringe copyright or intellectual property rights.
-
Images containing unlawful, offensive or misleading content.
Geoquest reserves the right to reject any submission that does not comply with these Terms & Conditions.
9. Judging Criteria
Entries will be judged primarily on photographic excellence. The judging panel will consider:

Visual impact
-
Composition and framing
-
Use of light and materiality
-
Relationship to landscape and surroundings
-
Originality of perspective
-
Technical quality and execution
-
Relevance to the category entered
Technical project information will provide supporting context but will not determine the winner. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
10. Judging Panel
Entries will be assessed by a panel comprising representatives from:

Geoquest
-
NPCAA
-
An independent industry expert
Geoquest reserves the right to amend the judging panel if necessary.
11. Prizes
There will be one winner selected in each category.
Total Prize Pool: AUD $2,000
-
Best Precast Concrete Structure in Infrastructure: AUD $1,000
-
Best Retaining Structure in Infrastructure: AUD $1,000
Prizes are not transferable or exchangeable. Prizes will be provided via a Visa gift card, or similar.
Where required by law, winners may be asked to provide proof of identity and eligibility before prizes are awarded.
12. Notification of Winners
Winners will be contacted using the details provided with their entry. Winning entries may be published on Geoquest and NPCAA communication channels, including websites, newsletters, social media platforms and industry publications.
13. Liability
Geoquest and NPCAA accept no responsibility for:

Lost, delayed, corrupted or incomplete submissions;
-
Technical failures affecting entry submission;
-
Any claims arising from entrants’ use of copyrighted, trademarked or protected material without permission.
Entrants indemnify Geoquest and NPCAA against any claim arising from a breach of these Terms & Conditions.
14. Privacy
Personal information collected as part of the Competition will be used for competition administration, entrant communications and winner notifications. Information will be handled in accordance with applicable Australian and New Zealand privacy laws.
15. General
Geoquest reserves the right to:

Verify the validity of entries;

Request evidence of copyright ownership;
-
Disqualify any entrant who breaches these Terms & Conditions;
-
Cancel, suspend or amend the Competition where circumstances beyond its reasonable control make it necessary to do so.
Participation in the Competition constitutes acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.
