Previously known as the Bunbury Outer Ring Road project
Geoquest is delighted to have supported the biggest road project ever delivered in Western Australia’s South West, providing a foundation for safety and efficiency in transport, and a canvas for strikingly unmissable artist murals.
The transformational Wilman Wadandi Highway, previously known as the Bunbury Outer Ring Road delivered by Main Roads WA and constructed by the South West Gateway Alliance is now officially open to traffic. The 27-kilometre four-lane Wilman Wadandi Highway links Forrest Highway to Bussell Highway.
MSE Walls & Precast Concrete Structures
Geoquest designed, manufactured and supplied mechanically stabilised earth walls, precast concrete wall panels, precast concrete bridge abutment columns and wing walls, noise wall barriers and safety barriers for the largescale infrastructure project. This included almost 1,300 of the precast wall panels.
The new highway now diverts around 15,000 vehicles from local Bunbury roads every day, reducing congestion and delivering safer and more efficient journeys for locals. It provides better access to Bunbury-Geographe and the wider South West region, improving traffic flow and freight efficiency.
Geoquest’s Regional Manager, West, Rhys Senior said: “It’s been a privilege to contribute to a project of such scale and significance in our own backyard here in WA. Supporting the South West Gateway Alliance with both traditional MSE walls and innovative precast solutions allowed us to help shape a safer, more efficient transport corridor for generations to come.
“This was more than just an infrastructure project—it was an opportunity to be part of a transformative legacy for the South West. We’re honoured to have helped lay the foundations—literally—for safer journeys and stronger communities, and even contribute to the beauty of the area, with several of our structures and precast walls now home to standout public artworks.”
The project also features 17-kilometres of shared paths to significantly enhance walking, riding and wheeling in the South West. And crucially, one of the bridges features a wildlife corridor to link bushland either side of the highway.
