Technical Paper: Innovating for a Greener Future in Infrastructure: At Geoquest, we’re proud to be helping deliver sustainable construction materials and reinforcement systems for Mechanically Stabilised Earth (MSE) walls across Australia.

Our latest technical paper, “Innovations in Sustainability,” showcases our work to reduce carbon emissions, lower project costs and improve construction timelines in Australia—without compromising on performance. This includes:

Reduced Carbon Concrete

·      Steel Fibre Mixes – Reducing reliance on traditional rebar with more sustainable reinforcement

·      50% SCM Mixes – Cement cut in half using industrial by-products (e.g. fly ash, slag)

Our 50% SCM concrete was recently used in the Ison Road Overpass, making it a first for Victoria and Australia—exceeding sustainability targets and proving what’s possible with greener precast. Other recent infrastructure developments that also incorporated 50% SCM mixes for their MSE wall panels or other precast concrete elements include the significant Warun Ponds and Diggers Rest projects, also both in Victoria.

Eco-Friendly Reinforcements

We’ve also introduced EcoStrap HA—a geosynthetic reinforcement solution allowing site-won and high-pH backfill to be used effectively.

These sustainable solutions are just the beginning. At Geoquest, we’re continuing to push boundaries to help build infrastructure that supports the future—not just structurally, but environmentally.
