Project Update – Pilbara, Western Australia

Geoquest recently completed the installation of its ArmaLynk™ high-performance geosynthetic reinforcement as part of a major mining infrastructure project in the Pilbara region.

Delivered in coordination with Geoquest’s Mechanically Stabilised Earth (MSE) walls and geocomposite drainage systems, including DRAINTUBE, the project showcases Geoquest’s capability to deliver fully integrated, turnkey geotechnical and structural solutions in demanding environments.

Geosynthetic Reinforcement

Engineered for demanding applications, ArmaLynk™ is an ultra-high performance PET geogrid, which provides exceptional tensile strength and long-term durability, ensuring reliable ground reinforcement in challenging site conditions. ArmaLynk® is used as layered soil reinforcement for building embankments and structures on poor sub-soils to improve stability. ArmaLynk® helps in reducing the construction time and increases the global performance of the project. Embankment foundations reinforced with ArmaLynk® are able to withstand high static and dynamic loads.

Drainage Geosynthetics

DRAINTUBE, a next-generation drainage geosynthetic, offers mechanical protection, filtration, drainage, and leak detection. Its adaptable design makes it ideal for mining applications, providing higher drainage capacity than many conventional products used in Australia today — allowing it to perform under heavy loads and dynamic conditions.

Integrating with MSE Solutions

Installed alongside Geoquest’s MSE reinforced soil structures with precast concrete facing panels, the geosynthetic solutions form part of the site’s extensive haul road and access infrastructure. With on-site technical support and close collaboration between Geoquest and installation teams, the project exemplifies the company’s turnkey approach — integrating advanced materials, proven design methodologies, and practical delivery to meet the complex requirements of Australia’s mining sector.
