Molonglo River Bridge, ACT: Geoquest has played a key role in the construction of Canberra’s landmark bridge, designing and supplying 414 precast concrete deck slabs for the bridge superstructure, which have now been lifted into place in a major milestone in this significant infrastructure project.

Once complete, the 200-metre-long Molonglo River Bridge will stand as one of the longest weathering steel bridges in Australia and the tallest road bridge in Canberra, soaring above the one-in-100-year flood level of the Molonglo River.

The broader project also includes 1.7 kilometres of new arterial roads and two new intersections, completing the extension of John Gorton Drive and improving connectivity for the growing Molonglo Valley community.

With the bridge deck slabs now in place, project contractor, construction is progressing to road surfacing, guard rails, railings, and throw screen barriers as the project moves closer to completion.

This $226.2 million project is jointly funded by the Australian and ACT Governments under the Commonwealth’s Infrastructure Investment Program, and we’re proud to contribute our engineering expertise and to support in helping to deliver this transformative new link for Canberra.
